MOSCOW, NOVEMBER 28. /RIA NOVOSTI/ -- Russian President
Vladimir Putin held a working meeting on matters of nuclear safety.
It gathered Nuclear Power Minister Alexander Rumyantsev; Boris Myasoyedov,
deputy chief learned secretary of the presidium of the Russian Academy
of Sciences and head of the Radiochemistry Laboratory of the V.I.Vernadski
Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry; Alexander Yablokov,
Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and president
of the Russian Ecological Policy Center; Grigory
Yavlinsky, leader of the Yabloko faction of the State Duma and Sergei
Mitrokhin, deputy from the Yabloko faction of the State Duma.
The President said that at its recent session the State Duma took a
series of important decisions, including ratification of the multilateral
nuclear environmental programme. It intends to carry out joint work with
foreign partners in the destruction of Russian nuclear submarines.
The programme makes it possible to start practical work, said the head
of Russia.
