The Yabloko party has decided to participate in the impending
presidential elections in Russia, said Yabloko's leader Grigory
Yavlinsky on Wednesday. Yavlinsky also stated that the question of
"who is going to be the candidate from the democratic parties - is
a question of democratic procedures".
"Our democratic candidate has always been Grigory Yavlinsky,"
noted Yabloko's deputy leader Sergei
Ivanenko. Although he did not rule out the possibility of other democratic
parties participating in the presidential elections and stated Yabloko's
willingness to collaborate with them.
Yavlinsky said that there would be a conference between various democratic
parties and civil organisations after the State Duma elections (scheduled
for December 7). At the conference the participants will decide on the
common platform for their candidate for the presidential elections.
