leadership meets the leaders of the All-Russia Confederation
of Labour

On the initiative of the All-Russia
Confederation of Labour, a meeting was held between
YABLOKO’s leadership and the leaders of the
confederation, which is the most representative Russian
trade union association that is not part of the Federation
of Independent Trade Unions of Russia. Leader leader
of YABLOKO party Sergei Mitrokhin, coordinator of
the Political Committee of the Party Boris Misnik,
head of the general fraction Galina Mikhaleva, co-chairman
of the social democratic fraction and member of the
bureau of the Party Anatoly Golov, representatives
of the confederation and members of the Executive
Committee of the All-Russia Confederation of Labour
attended the meeting, which discussed violations of
the rights of employees and trade unions...

Shishlov submitted amendments to the federal budget
aimed at raising wages for education workers

According to Shishlov, the committee prepared joint
proposals on first-hand budget priorities that are
of political importance. They include an increase
in teachers' wages, an increase in expenditures on
the purchase of educational equipment and refurbishment
of hostels, increase of expenditures on the development
of an information education base.

leaders of teacher trade unions supported the initiative
of Alexander Shishlov to create a trilateral commission
to finalise the planned reform of wages for budget
workers

Education
in Russia Needs USD 1.5 Billion by 2004 to Avert Degradation

billion, including USD 871 million for the transition

plan to rank civil service workers the same way military
officers are ranked in the army. But promotions will
be tied to how long the bureaucrats have worked in
