YABLOKO party urges its supporters not to take part in
the presidential elections
Yesterday the meeting of the Federal Council of the YABLOKO party urged
its voters not to take part in the March 14 presidential election.
YABLOKO decided not to take part in the presidential election campaign
in December, after the State Duma elections, which the party lost, scoring
only 4.3% of the vote. The party said at the time that it wouldn’t
nominate a candidate and wouldn’t support the incumbent Vladimir
Putin. It also didn't throw its support behind the former Co-Chair of
the Union of Right-Wing Forces (SPS) Irina Khakamada, who decided to take
part in the presidential campaign.
YABLOKO said its supporters should not cast their votes in the March
14 presidential elections, as the campaign is being conducted "dishonestly".
However, the party said that YABLOKO's supporters should vote in regional
and municipal elections, which are also being held in several regions
also on March 14.
