Moscow. By and large, the RF Ministry of Natural Resources
and the Russian Democratic Party "Yabloko" will cooperate on
environment protection and efficient nature management. Principal agreements
on this issue were reached at the meeting of Sergei
Mitrokhin, YABLOKO Party Deputy Chairman and Yuri Trutnev, the RF Minister
of Natural Resources.
Mitrokhin expressed the overall anxiety of non-governmental nature protection
organizations to the adoption of a new version of the Forestry Code. The
appeal of the Party to the Natural Resources Ministry includes the amendments
devised by the leading ecological organizations of the Russian Federation.
The amendments provide for elimination of restrictions for use of forests;
banning of forest use in protected forests; elimination of the privatization
of protected forests; toughening of demands to leasers of woodlots; keeping
and widening of the networks of especially protected zones including those
held by the Forest Fund.
In addition, party members propose that the Code stipulate introduction
of obligatory state ecological expertise of forest organization. The amendments
proposed by YABLOKO found some backing from the minister. The representatives
of the party were invited to take part in amendment of the Code, claimed
Mitrokhin. "We have cooperated with Yuri Trutnev ever since he won
the Perm Mayor Elections with the support of the party. He will without
a doubt consider our proposals thoroughly and take a constructive decision",
Mitrokhin concluded.
Today Grigory Yavlinsky, the
YABLOKO Party Chairman sent a similar appeal with proposed amendments
to German Gref, the RF Minister for Economic Development and Trade, stated
YABLOKO's press service.
