The YABLOKO faction expresses its indignation with the
bandit-like attack on the Moscow representation of the "Open Society"
Institute. Seizure of the building of the institute by force by dozens
of armed people is an extraordinary event which cannot be explained within
the legal framework.
We consider the inaction of the law enforcement agencies inadmissible
here. They took no effort to protect citizens attacked by armed people
in the centre of the Russian capital.
We are certain that such a thing became possible owing to the increasingly
arbitrary rule of the law enforcement agencies, whose representatives
roughly interfere in the affairs of all the institutions of society, including
political parties and civil organisations.
We call on everybody involved in decision-making in this area to facilitate
the restoration of the rule of law, the return of documents and property
and punishment of the guilty.
Head of the faction
Grigory A. Yavlinsky
