The Russian Democratic Party YABLOKO celebrates its 10th
anniversary. On Tuesday celebrations began in the Central Museum of Modern
History of Russia, Moscow, where an exhibition was held on the history
of the party's creation and development.
At the press conference in the museum, the leader of YABLOKO, Grigory
Yavlinsky informed the press that October 21 2003 was the tenth anniversary
of the registration of the electoral bloc "Yavlinsky-Boldyrev-Lukin."
Yavlinsky also paid tribute to the memory of those YABLOKO members who
did not live to see the 10th anniversary of the party - deputy of the
State Duma Yuri Schekochikhin
and well-known journalist from Kalmykia Larissa
Yudina. Yavlinsky noted that they had fought against corruption in
Russia.
According to the participants of the press conference, at present YABLOKO
has 65,000 members and over 600 local organisations in 72 regions of Russia
and over 400 representatives of legislative and executive authorities
at all levels.
