"I think that the federal Political Council of the
SPS will revise its decision on setting its candidates in electoral districts
that were coordinated during negotiations between Irina Khakamada and Sergei
Ivanenko," the Chairman of the YABLOKO party Grigory
Yavlinsky declared today during a meeting with journalists in St. Petersburg.
According to Yavlinsky, the electoral districts in question are the districts
where Sergei Mitrokhin,
Alexei Arbatov, Sergei
Popov, Anatoli Golov
,Sergei Ivanenko and Valeri
Borschyov will be campaiging. As soon the SPS recalls its candidates
from these districts, we shall take the same step in other districts in
response," said Yavlinsky. Yavlinsky thinks that in this case YABLOKO
will not put forward its candidates in the districts where Griogry Tomchin,
Irina Khakamada and Boris Nadezhdin are
going to run their campaigns.
"We don't think it is proper to fight against the SPS in single-mandate
districts," stressed Yavlinsky. He also stated that YABLOKO would
be glad to support a number of the SPS candidates in single-mandate electoral
districts,"and hopes that the Union of Right-Wing Forces will support
YABLOKO's single-mandate candidates. Yavlinsky also noted that "St.Petersburg electoral districts constituted a significant topic" and called
on journalists not to make a fuss about this issue. "Everything will
be fine" and agreements will be reached with the SPS, he said.
