Deputy of the State Duma of the RF Sergei
Mitrokhin (YABLOKO faction) forwarded letters demanding an investigation
into the situation surrounding the methanol terminal in Azov in the addresses
of Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov, Minister of Natural Resources Vitali
Artyukhov, Public Prosecutor General Vladimir Ustinov, Chief Sanitary Doctor
Gennadi Onischenko and the governor of the Rostov region Vladimir Chub.
"Analysis of the files handed to me by representatives of Azov
[city] and environmental organisations provides with grounds for citing
bad violations [of the standards] made during the design and construction
of the terminal," said Mitrokhin. "The goal of my addresses
is to find out how bad they are and return the situation back to the legal
field."
According to the documents, a number of federal legislative acts, such
as the Law "On Environmental Protection ", the Law "On
Environmental Expertise", the Provisions on the assessment of the
impact on the environment and legislation regulating construction work
were violated during the design and construction of the terminal in Azov.
In addition to the violations
During the design and construction of the terminal letters addressed
to Gryzlov, Ustinov and Chub also provide examples of unlawful actions
of the militia towards citizens who participated in protest acts against
the resumption of nuclear imports.
