| St. Petersburg, June 24, 2003. Representatives from YABLOKO
are ready to meet Valentina Matviyenko to discuss her impending election
campaign, Deputy Chairman of the YABLOKO party Igor
Artemyev said in an interview with a Rosbalt correspondent. According
to Artemyev, the "decision of Valentina Matviyenko came as no surprise
to us."
It should be recalled that on Tuesday during a meeting with schoolchildren
who graduated from school cum laude in St. Petersburg Plenipotentiary
Representative of the President of the RF in the
North-West Federal District Valentina Matviyenko declared her intention
to
compete for the post of Governor of St. Petersburg.
