Moscow. The YABLOKO Party intends to carry out its
election campaign to the State Duma in a new way this year. Deputy
Head of the YABLOKO faction in the State Duma of the Russian Federation
Sergei Ivanenko
informed a VN correspondent that this campaign would be conducted
on the streets, rather than through the media.
In the campaign YABLOKO members will rely on their own abilities,
including meetings with the electorate, picketing and the distribution
of leaflets.
According to Ivanenko, the party has an opportunity to use new
methods in the parliamentary struggle, as party membership grew
over the past year 3.5 times to 36,000 members. New regional party
branches have also emerged. "We cannot count on the administrative
resource and therefore, rely on our regional structures,"
the representative of YABLOKO noted. Ivanenko also pointed out
that the party disposed of sufficient funds to conduct to carry
out election campaign.
