| Moscow, March 25, 2003. (RIA Novosti) - Alexei
Arbatov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defence Committee,
stated at a press conference that the decision taken by Georgia,
Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Ukraine to support the US in their war
against Iraq "besmirches their reputation.." Arabtov added
that "in the eyes of the international community these countries
resembled puppets on a string controlled by the US." Arbatov
rejected suggestions that the decision to back the USA taken by
Georgia could affect Russian-Georgian relations.
