MOSCOW, December 9 (Itar-Tass) -- YABLOKO has begun negotiations
with democratic forces on the nomination of a single candidate for the
president elections in 2004, said the YABLOKO leader Grigory
Yavlinsky at a press conference on Tuesday.
He also said YABLOKO had had two days of active consultations with the
Union of Right-Wing Forces. Yavlinsky said that chances were rather high
because the two parties felt approximately the same after their defeat
in the parliament elections.
Yavlinsky said that former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and his
Social Democratic Party might take part in the coalition.
Yavlinsky said the candidate would be discussed in detail and very seriously.
Soon YABLOKO will hold a congress to define future tasks. The main task
of YABLOKO is to preserve itself as a party, Yavlinsky said.
He thinks that YABLOKO and the Union of Right-Wing Forces will have
very big problems, especially after the presidential elections.
