| MOSCOW. November 2 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir
Putin's political rating remains high. This week, Putin was supported by
nearly 73% of the respondents polled by the VTSIOM-A independent non-profitl
pollster. Twenty four percent of those surveyed said their opinion of Putin's
performance was negative. Last week's results were 74% and 23%, respectively.
VTSIOM-A polled 1,600 people in 40 regions and 100 populated areas on
its own initiative from October 24 to 28. The margin of the poll was 3.4%.
Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov received approval from 39% and disapproval
from 50% of those polled.
On the whole, the government was supported by 37% and criticized by
56% of the respondents this week.
Putin's trust rating remains indisputably high at 47% , up 5% from last
week. Emergency Situations Minister Sergei Shoigu comes second (19%) and
Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov third (14%.)
Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party Vladimir Zhirinovsky is trusted
by 11% of those surveyed and Interior Minister Boris Gryzlov by 9% of
the respondents. The list of the ten most popular Russian politicians
also includes Yabloko leader Grigory
Yavlinsky and Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov (8%, each,) Prime Minister
Mikhail Kasyanov (7%), State Duma Deputy Sergei Glazyev (6%,) and Governor
of St.Petersburg Valentina Matviyenko (5%.)
Twenty percent of those polled do not trust any Russian politicians.
