RBC. October 25, 2003. Moscow. 13:45:10. Detention
of the head of YUKOS represents an act of intimidation against large-scale
business. This statement was made to RBC by Vyacheslav Erokhin, chief
analyst at the Center for Economic and Political Research EPIcenter.
According to Erokhin, an entire series of acts have been carried out
to intimidate large-scale business. Such acts have to demonstrate who
wields power in the country - the President, a large-scale business or
law enforcement structures.
"I suspect that the arrest in Novosibirsk was performed without
any sanction from the President, as there was no real need to forcibly
bring Khodorkovsky forward for interrogation," thinks Erokhin.
