| The YABLOKO faction is going to demand a review
of the refusal by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs refusal to issue
a Russian visa to Dalai-Lama 14. The deputies’ inquiry was
forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation
on August 30, 2002, by Deputy Head of the YABLOKO faction Sergei
Mitrokhin. It states that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
has virtually undertaken responsibility for the “excommunication”
of the Russian Buddhists from their spiritual leader.” The
inquiry also notes that even though the refusal to issue a visa
for the Buddhists’ spiritual leader has already provoked
broad public resonance and mass protest actions, the corresponding
Foreign Ministry departments have not even considered a meeting
with the protesting citizens of Russia.
