| Moscow, 24 April: The leader of the Russian
liberal party Yabloko, Grigoriy Yavlinsky, According to information
agencies, there are grounds for thinking that during his meeting
with Edward Shevardnadze, President Putin has found the right
solutions to Russian-Georgian MOSCOW. Oct 10 (Interfax) - The
Duma Council submitted a draft resolution to erect a monument
to Russian Emperor Nicholas II on Moscow's Lubyanskaya Square
on the agenda for the Duma session on October 16.
Alexander Fedulov, a Duma deputy unrelated to any factions,
drafted the resolution. He told the press that the Duma's approval
of the resolution would signify the beginning of the state's repentance
for Bolshevik crimes against the royal family.
The draft resolution asks President Vladimir Putin and Moscow
Mayor Yuri Luzhkov to erect a monument to Nicholas II in the capital.
Fedulov said that Sergei Reshulsky, a representative from the
communist faction, had supported the consideration of the draft,
while Yabloko representatives had objected to the Thursday session
of the Duma Council.
Meanwhile, several weeks ago, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov called
for the restoration of a monument to Felix Dzerzhinsky, former
head of the VChK emergency commission and one of the founders
of the Soviet security services, on Lubyanskaya Square. The initiative
triggered a heated debate between left-wing deputies who supported
Luzhkov, and right-wing deputies who strongly opposed the restoration
of a monument to the man who, they said, was deeply involved in
the Bolsheviks' large-scale oppression.
