Activists of the Miass city branch of Yabloko organised a mourning
picket for the Day of Memory of the Victims of Fascism in the
central square of the city. It was organised under the slogan
"No - to Fascism, Nationalism and Extremism!" It aimed
to preserve the historic memory, strengthen ethnic and inter-confessional
friendship. The picket ended with flowers placed by the Eternal
Flame at the memorial of the Grieving Mother. A church services
was held in
memory of all those who died for their motherland before the picket.
The picket was scheduled in advance: however, it transpired that
the act of terror occurred in the USA on the day before the picket.
The participants in the picket conveyed their condolences to the
relatives of all the victims and the American people. "We
are shaken by these acts," said Viktor Strutz, Chairman of
the Miass Yabloko organisation in the interview. It duly transpired
that the picket against extremism coincided with the problem of
the day - clearly, many countries, including Russia, have to live
with the fear of further acts of terror, Yabloko's activists believe.
