According to information from the NTV television company, with
a
reference
to the Interfax agency, the President met with representatives
of the
Yabloko faction of the State Duma tonight. The meeting lasted
three and
a
half hours. As well as the leader of the Yabloko faction Grigory
Yavlinsky,
Sergei Ivanenko, Alexei Arbatov, Igor Artemyev, Sergei Mitrokhin
and
Alexei
Mikhailov took part in the meeting, which was planned during the
previous
meeting of Grigory Yavlinsky with the President on December 5,
2000.
As Yavlinsky informed us after the meeting, the discussions covered
the
economic development strategy of the country, the military, the
judicial-legal and municipal reforms and consolidation of the
financial
base
of local government. Yavlinsky said that special attention was
paid to
the
problem of investments in the Russian economy, including those
related
to
production-sharing agreements.
According to Yabloko’s leader, “specific plans of work to accelerate
promotion of Yabloko proposals” were drafted at the meeting. The
next
meeting of the President with the leadership of Yabloko is planned
for
February 2000.
