The leader of the Russian opposition party YABLOKO Sergei
Mitrokhin called the success of the German FDP party at the
parliamentary election a major break-through of the liberal
movement worldwide.
In his interview to the Deutsche Welle the leader of the Russian
opposition party YABLOKO Sergei Mitrokhin congratulated a
“sister liberal party” – the German FDP party - with their
success at the parliamentary election on September 27. “I
think this represents a major break-through of the liberal
movement not only in Germany, but also worldwide,” he said.
Mitrokhin expressed his hope that Russian democrats can use
the success of the FDP at the parliamentary elections in Germany
so that “the Russian-German and the Russian-EU relations could
rise to a new level and transform into a new quality”.
The FDP considerably improved its result at the Bundestag
election on September 27, obtaining, according to the preliminary
results, 14.7 per cent of the votes.
