The discussion was initiated by renown human rights activist Valery Borschyov, Chair of the Board of the Social Partnership Foundation and member of YABLOKO’s Bureau, Anatoli Sidakov, Chairman of the North-Ossetian YABLOKO branch and Magomed Mutzolgov, head of the MAShR human rights organisation.

The round table turned out to be an event of great importance in the Republic. Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, President of Ingushetia, Vladimir Lukin, Russia’s Ombudsman, Thomas Hammarberg, Human Rights Commissioner of the Council of Europe, Daud Garakoyev, leader of the Ingush YABLOKO, heads of human rights organisations and Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Ingushetia participated in the discussion.

According to Valery Borschyov, in spite of the acuteness and complexity of the problems, the round table was conducted in the spirit of understanding and humanism. “It was obvious that people got tired of many years of strife,” noted Borschyov.

Borschyov also marked a very active participation of the Ingush President Yunus-Bek Yevkurov in the discussion. “Yevkurov attached great value to this event and expressed his desire to inform the Administration of the President of Russia on the need of such meetings,” Borschyov said.

The round table also resulted in the creation of a permanent working group joining together both representatives of the North Ossetia and Ingushetia.
