On Sunday, August 9, activists of the Youth Organisation of the St.Petersburg branch of YABLOKO will conduct Ten Years of Putinism action. That is how young democrats are going to mark the ten year anniversary of Vladimir Putin coming into power. On August 9, 1999, President of Russia Boris Yeltsin appointed Vladimir Putin acting Prime Minister. A week later the State Duma officially approved the appointment.
Young YABLOKO activists are going to show and speak about the ten “great achievements” of the Putin’s era: arbitrary rule of the police, curbing of the freedom of speech, political persecutions and murders, the vertical of power, fight against small-scale business, etc.
According to the young YABLOKO activists, considerable unfavourable changes have taken place in Russia for the past ten years. The young people are going to give definite facts that have not been published by most of the media and that will do away with the myth of the “happy ten years with Putin”. A theatrical performance will show the true face of putinism.
The action will take place at B.Moskovskaya 8 (Vladimirovskaya metro station) at 3.00 p.m.
