On the night June 21-22 YABLOKO activists will conduct their traditional 1,418 Candles per a Day of War action to commemorate the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (the date of Hitler’s attack on the USSR commemorated in Russia as the Memory and Grievance Day).
They will light up 1,418 candles – a candle per a day of war – by the monument 1941 at Poklonnaya Gora in Moscow on June 21 at 10 p.m.
YABLOKO leaders will also participate in the action.
YABLOKO has been conducting actions of this type for several years already. In St.Petersburg members of the Youth YABLOKO organisation will light up candles by the monument to the Siege of Leningrad.
Thousands of Muscovites (pensioners, families with children, young people) joined YABLOKO’s action in Moscow in 2007.
