The YABLOKO Congress called on the Congress of the Union of Right-Wing Forces (SPS) Party not to abolish the agreements on coordinating candidates in single-mandate electoral districts.
On Sunday, September 7, 2003, delegates from the YABLOKO congress adopted an Address to the Congress of the Union of Right-Wing Forces Party scheduled for Monday, September 8, 2003.
The address states: "The Russian Democratic Party YABLOKO proceeds from the premise that one of the key tasks in the forthcoming election is to increase the number of representatives in the RF State Duma from democratic forces advocating democratic and liberal values.”
Consequently members of the YABLOKO party expressed their hopes that the congress of the Union of Right-Wing Forces would proceed on the basis of the results of the agreements reached during consultations between the plenipotentiary representatives of YABLOKO and the SPS in 2002-2003 in nominating candidates in single-mandate electoral districts. "We state herewith that we will adhere to our position on agreeing candidates on single-mandate electoral districts in accordance with these agreements. The Presidium of the Russian Democratic Party YABLOKO is vested with the power of attorney in corresponding decision-making."
YABLOKO also called on the SPS "to adhere to the principles of honest elections during the election campaign and to refrain from using unethical methods in the election campaign."
The 11th Congress of YABLOKO also wished SPS success at the elections
