The Yabloko faction and the government will continue further work on the Land Code | ||||
|
Consultations of the Yabloko faction with the government represented by the Minister for Economic Development and Trade German Gref resulted in an agreement on continuing further work on changes to the RF Land Code and new amendments targeted at increasing guarantees over the transparency of land distribution and protection of the rights of citizens disposing of plots of land, deputy of the Yabloko faction Sergei Mitrokhin told journalists.
The Yabloko faction supported the draft Land Code in its third reading in the Duma on September 20, 2001. The deputies of the Yabloko faction are certain that a civilised distribution of land, first and foremost municipally-owned, is required in Russia. Without this, successful economic development of the country is impossible.
In discussions of the draft code in the first and second readings in the Duma Yabloko repeatedly referred to the drawbacks of the initial draft and did all it could to eliminate them. Consequently, the Yabloko faction succeeded in pushing for the adoption of a number of amendments, ensuring the transparency of land privatisation. In particular, the authorities have to inform the public in advance on all instances of privatisation of plots of land. This leaves grounds for hoping that land will not be privatised to the benefit of criminals, as was the case during privatisation of industrial enterprises.
