The leader of Yabloko, Grigory Yavlinsky, said that he would initiate a review of the situation at the NTV at the next meeting of the State Duma.

He assessed the developments at the NTV channel which took place last night as "a takeover by force"."This is an absolutely inadmissible means of problem-solving," Yavlinsky said, arriving early in the morning on April 14, 2001, at Ostankino (Ed. the TV centre). He also stressed that it was inadmissible to resolve economic disputes by force, "which is what we are seeing in this case". According to Grigory Yavlinsky, the dispute around NTV can only be solved only by court. "The court should have determined the legal competence of the shareholders' meeting [conducted on the initiative of Gazprom-Media on April 3.] This did not happen, stressed Yavlinsky. - And we will insist that further developments should be based exclusively on court rulings."
